Be a smarty-pants with seasonal marketing this year !


              We have all seen large department stores "cashing-in" on seasonal marketing but seasonal marketing can also be used by smaller businesses and on-line businesses.
  Seasonal marketing can be a thoughtful gesture that helps build relationships with your clients. Maybe part of your seasonal marketing campaign involves a useful list to help get your clients through the holidays ... or some other information they might find valuable/helpful. Plan in advance at least 15 days before your target seasonal holiday. However - add more time on if you plan to order new items which will be part of your seasonal campaign.

Stick to a simple plan - don't try to throw everything into one add campaign! Make it a  simple and clear message that is easy enough for people to remember and interesting enough that people will repeat.

Don't forget that you can encourage use of your services and encourage sales of your products by offering something for free ( like lip balm with your logo on it ) . Doing this can help make for a very focused and fun marketing campaign.

If you already give an item away to your clients consider changing it with the season to keep your client interested. For example, if you already give away lip balm - consider changing the flavours or packaging  2-4 times a year. In the fall you could offer glow-in-the-dark lip balm sticks leading up to Halloween and maybe add some halloween graphics to your label.

Ride 4 United Way

The Event: A biking event to raise money for United Way of Durham Region taking place at Lakeview Park in Oshawa.The event was in partnership with Oshawa Cycling Club.This money goes toward people in the Durham Region Community who are less fortunate.
The United Way will be distributing promotional lip balms which will help promote awareness about the event and their cause.  
The Rewards: Besides the satisfaction of helping those less fortunate in the Durham Region community....there are some great prizes being given away:

Win a Pinarello (CAN$1,000.00 + ) 
Individuals who succeed in raising one thousand dollars in pledges will have their names entered in a draw to win a Pinarello Traveso. With a more relaxed geometry than their racing bikes, the Traveso provides for a slightly more relaxed and upright position on the bike while providing a ride which has plenty of power and jump for hills or inclines.

Run with Porter - Promoting a Fundraiser

Run with Porter successfully uses promotional products such as sweaters and lip balm branded with their logo to raise funds, raise awareness of their cause and support their awesome annual running event.

4  things we can learn 
from Run with Porter’s approach to fundraising and promotion:

1. Build a Strong Identity
The Run with Porter Seedling Foundation was formed to create a fund to honour the love of our boy who passed away at six months of age, while supporting Manitoba charities that combine the elements of children with nature.  As Porter was not gifted the experience of running through the woods, we have brought our families and our community together to do just that.

2. Ensure Solid Fundraising

Our approach to fundraising is to try our best to connect with businesses who share our philosophy of protecting our environment. 
More often than not we have experienced that such a philosophy is not a priority of larger companies, yet have been overwhelmed with how so many smaller organizations strive to make green choices or offer green options, such as Promo Lip Balm, and such companies are usually the most supportive.

3. Be Resourceful in Distribution and Promotion

Lululemon Athletica, one of our major supporters, allows our team to set up a display table in their store on Saturdays in April.  We sell our Run with Porter Promo Lip Balm right there in the middle of the store, using the lip balm as the catalyst of many conversations about our event. 
It is a product that everyone wants, so people feel comfortable approaching our table and supporting us.  And because the lip balm is organic, this further continues our eco-friendly theme and conversation. 
The lip balm was sold at Donwood Elementary School, last year's grant recipient, for students to purchase during lunch hours.  Moksha Yoga, another major sponsor, sold them easily at the front of their counter.  We also sell the lip balm on race day - always a success!

Promotional Lip Balm  People want to make the right choice of organic, and the purchase of the lip balm is an easy step along continuing an eco-friendly journey.  Our events logo is featured on all tubes, allowing people to be reminded of who we are throughout even our cold winters here on the prairie!
